Injection systems in off-highway engines are almost always subject to extreme operating conditions.
Variations in the quality of the fuels used, industrial outline conditions for the use of engines and their operation at extreme load points present major challenges for the development and production of our systems.
In spite of these outline conditions, the lifetimes achieved with Woodward L'Orange systems are very high. The service life of our products is for example many times that of the system lifetimes attained in the automobile and commercial vehicle sector.
We nevertheless work in close agreement with the engine developers on permanently improving system availability and increasing service life, as this directly influences the lifecycle costs and overall engine cost-effectiveness. This above all affects components subject to particularly heavy loads and high levels of wear.
This includes our
According to the servicing plan of the engine manufacturers, these elements should be replaced regularly to prevent unforeseen failure. In this context we would like to make an appeal to the operators of engines:
Please take the specified replacement intervals seriously. In individual cases our components will of course sometimes last even longer – but you should not rely on this and always include the extra cost of unforeseen engine failure in your considerations.
Unfortunately, in our sector’s spare parts segment, there are many very attractive offers for engine operators which however at a closer look prove to be shady counterfeits. Woodward L'Orange and other trustworthy suppliers spend over 10% of their turnover on the development of injection systems, of which a major goes towards improving service life and system availability levels. The results of this work are excellent in view of the maintenance intervals and high availability rates achieved.
Suppliers of counterfeit products often only copy the obvious geometries of our products. This does not include specific know-how in the segments of materials, processing methods, coatings, fine geometries and process techniques. In this context the use of such counterfeit products often results in rapid and unforeseen system failures, which in individual cases may also cause total destruction of the engines involved.
We therefore urgently recommend using genuine spare parts, which are either available from us directly or via the service organisation of your engine partner.
New labels on products and packaging boxes
Please pay attention to the new branding of our products: All products, labels and packaging boxes will be provided with our new logo. The abbreviation "LO" will be replaced by "W". All information on the labels remain the same as previously, i.e. part no., barcode and void seal. As we do a fluent transition you probably get parts packed in orange boxes with the old labelling as well as with the new. (November 2019)
